The General Climbs Back on the Stairmaster
Wow, am I ever out of shape. I did 15 minutes on the Stairmaster this morning, and it was much more strenuous than it was supposed to be. And that was on level 3 (on a 1-10 scale). I know the progress will come pretty quick there, but still… I was out of shape three years ago and doing 30 minutes on level 5. Oh well…just another mountain to climb, I suppose. In fairness, it was made more difficult that I did it before I ate breakfast and had no recent food-energy going for me, but that was by design; I know that exercise before you eat in the morning is a little more friendly in terms of burning fat.
Went to the Elk Creek Steakhouse with the in-laws last night, and went with the blackened chicken salad. Props to the wife for pointing it out on the specials menu and saving my midsection from being ravaged by a filet mignon. Yes, this is officially bizarro world.

Good choice with the chicken salad at the Elk Creek. I’m sure the poop to food ratio was much lower with that meal than my last visit there.

I joined a gym today, so I’ll start that soon myself. I have to opt for the treadmill, though — the Stairmaster will blow me knees completely out of my legs.
I may start out walking a few miles, work my way up to running, then to lifting some.

I’ve been trying to log a few minutes on the treadmill every day but not nearly enough to qualify as real exercise. I wanna see how far diet will take me before I get to running a couple of miles a day and lifting. Probably a couple of weeks or when I hit 205. Which, ironically, should be in a couple of weeks.

I am sticking to the walks on a local Greenway or we have a couple of miles worth of trails at a nature center just outside of town. Nothing but the deer, turkeys, and me. Very nice. I am going to join the Y after the holidays to start getting some racquetball time in as well. Lifting weights, stairmasters, and treadmills are all very painful and should be avoided at all costs.
