Steppin’ To The AM

Close but no cigar for the 5:30 am workout, but I was there and going by 6 am.  That gives me two hours of gym time before I have to hit the showers.  I tried squatting today for the fist time in 1million years and it nearly tore my legs to shreds.  I’ll have to work that back up, but the rest of the leg workout was good.  Walking, Bike, Eliptical, Situps, Weights and Sauna.  I’ll take that.  I also bought some Michellina’s microwave health meals for the pm to help with my nighttime diet.  I was doing good before, but was just trying to portion control on food that wasn’t that healthy.  Now I know I can eat those meals, along with a bananna or some fruit and be ready to go in the morning.

Email Rob (I need all the encouragement I can get!)

That’s spectacular. I joined Gold’s yesterday, but I think I’m going to wait until next week to start. Reason: I’m going out of town tomorrow for the holiday and there’s no Gold’s close to my parents’ home, so it’ll be just one day and then a few off if I start today.

I also have to prepare to perfect workout song list on my wife’s iPod.

The Michellina lasagna is not too shabby for a meal under $1 and 320 calories.

Yes, that is what drew my cheap behind to the Michellinas meals–5 for $4 at the local F to da L. Good stuff.

Remember, you’re required to do the Macarena while the food cooks.

Careful with the squats, I hear you there. If I don’t stretch a ton beforehand, I cramp up/strain something and can’t finish. Best bet is to do 10 minutes or so warmup on a treadmill or elliptical, then stretch your legs every possible way, then do a couple warmup sets, then hit the “real” sets. Takes longer than it used to to get warmed up, but it’s worth it to avoid an injury.

Thanks, but as you know I was lifting weights when you were wearing Rude dog t shirts with Whitney Houston blasting from your walkman while riding your skateboard down Jefferson Dr….You’re right though, MORE STRETCHING. I cramped up while typing this.

You guys are both pansies. I will try to find some footage from 1993 or so of myself squatting that you can use as a technique guide and for inspiration. Oh, and I would avoid steps for a few days.

If you need more squatting tips, I have some great photos of my 2 year old lifting pumpkins–has perfect form….

I think it is super that you even get yourr butt the the gym, cuz I can’t seem to get my butt off the couch let alone gym. But seriously 2 hours?!? That is a long time. Pace yourself!

I’ve seen that picture. Good stuff and perfect form.

He is pacing himself — a real man would be doing 4 hours.
