Breaking the Seal
I hit the gym this afternoon for the first time in well over 2 years. As always, the toughest part was getting myself to leave the house and make the trek to the gym. Once I start a workout, I’m okay (relatively speaking). I’m very glad to have gotten the first one out of the way — it really wasn’t as bad as I thought.
I ran 2 miles and walked 2.5 miles. 1 and 1/2 of those running miles were all together, with the other 1/2 mile coming as a pseudo sprint (which means as close as I can come to a “sort of a sprint” these days). The walking was all done at a 15 minute mile pace (besides the last 1/4 mile, which was cool down mode). I am not very versed on conversions of heart rate/workout distances and speed to calories burned, but from the way I felt immediately afterward, I would estimate that I burned somewhere in the neighborhood of 750,000 to 1 million calories.
