It’s Weigh-In eve…
and while I don’t think I’ll be coming in under 200, I hope to shed at least two pounds, which would put me at 201 and half my goal. Did 45 minutes on the Stairmaster 5 out of the 7 nights this week, always after I’d eaten my last meal of the day. Had a cheat meal on Friday night at Outback, but otherwise, no cheats to speak of.
Already, I’m feeling quite transformed by this whole experience and we’re not even halfway through it. I definitely felt like I was beyond help in the fitness department — not necessarily that I couldn’t get into good shape (if my life depended on it), but more like I *wouldn’t* ever do it again. Especially in the Stairmaster department, I never thought I’d be in as good shape on that thing again as I already am, and I know I can still push the workouts further without killing myself, up to an hour and beyond. Saving that for when I plateau, but still…it can be done.
I’ve got higher hopes for the next few weeks, prior to Vegas. We moved the basement around a little bit — moved our Stairmaster and treadmill into what used to be Mia’s playroom and made it an exercise room. I also bought a good flat bench and a set of Nautilus SelectTech adjustable dumbbells that adjust anywhere from 5 pounds to 52.5 pounds. They’re really nice, I like them a lot, and they’ll allow me to do some weight training here at home as well as the cardio. I’ve been trying to do more work at home since I’m doing a lot of writing. Anyhow, doing the weights at home will also be nice for getting all of my supplements in at the right time, since they’ll just be upstairs. I’m sure I’ll put on a bit of muscle mass at first and that could throw off my weigh-ins, but it’ll even itself out for the better as we near the goal.
Anyway… big props to the Captain for doggedly pursuing this weight loss challenge-turned-full-blown-web-experiment. I already feel much better, already lost one waist size (not quite 2 inches from my waist), and hopefully the lack of fatness around my gut will soon get me back into XL shirts.
Email Josh (I probably can't win, but I'm still trying like hell.)

I’m glad that everyone got on board and is making it happen. A lot of stubborn, fat-asses in this group — what we’re doing is even more amazing than most people realize.

I can’t believe you caved on the treadmill.

Damn. You screwed your kids out of a playroom for the contest? That’s dedication!

Oh yeah, I forgot to add — the kids’ playroom moved out into the area where the fireplace is, so they won as well. Their play space just doubled.
