Ouch

I cheated some this week, and it showed big on the scale.  I weighed in last night after a hard workout and still was hitting 282.  I tried this morning after a little fasting and the scale had the same dissapointing weight.  282 it is boys.  Hard at it this week.

Email Rob (I need all the encouragement I can get!)

It’s coming up on crunch time, my man! If my math is correct, we have 21 weeks left and you have 47 pounds to go. That’s a little over 2 pounds a week (and that’s to barely slide in to meet the goal). That is not a breakneck pace, and you can do it — but you’ve GOT to bear down. I want to see our asses on the beach this fall (for free I might add).

You were doing well — no more cheats!!!!!

I’m in no position to offer advise this week but a push isn’t cutting it, biggner. Up that cardio hoss.

Something that’s been working for me is to do my cardio after I’m done eating for the night. I’ve read many times that doing that, or doing it first thing in the morning before you eat anything, is best for fat loss.

Elaborate on these cheats here, hoss. Maybe we can berate you into compliance. In fairness, here are mine:

Monday night cheat meal: Pecan-encrusted chicken salad at Friday’s (still a salad, but w/ bleu cheese, nuts, pecans on the chicken, etc.) and a cookie dough blizzard from DQ

Overeating night — ate a whole burrito from Qdoba. Very healthy content (black beans, chicken, rice, lettuce), but too many calories. Even when you leave off the sour cream and cheese, that thing still packs 800-900 calories.

Movie popcorn Saturday night. Popcorn in itself is pretty low in cals, the gallons of butter salt obviously are not. A meal at Zaxby’s last night, I got a chicken salad but they were out of unsweet so I had to go sweet on the tea. I’ll make it up this week.

I’m going to extend my workout times by an hour. I’ve been doing 1/2 mile jogging and 1/2 mile walking at lunch, but when I get off or out of school I’m going to try to get an extra hour of walking. Right now my night cardio is 30mins of the treadmill at 3mph and 20 minutes of the eliptical. With the mile at lunch that’s usually about 3.5 miles total a day. I think I’m going to go an extra 10mins on the eliptical and an extra 50 mins walking. I want that Vegas weight of 270.

Good for you! Don’t burn yourself out, either — but I think you can handle that increase. And if you’re in the gym, you’re not eating…

As far as the cheats go — I understand about the popcorn. I don’t usually go to theaters, but when I do it is 100% impossible for me not to have buttered popcorn. That is my biggest Achilles heel in the world. I wouldn’t dare go to a movie during this contest — I know myself well enough to know that I simply cannot handle being around movie popcorn. It’s my crack.

Oh — and I’m not a Southerner of course, and I don’t claim to know all of the laws in North Carolina — but is it a law that you HAVE to drink tea with every meal? Are you allowed to have water or diet soda, when unsweetened tea is not available? Maybe not — just asking…

    North Carolina General Statute 1675.98 p.147 v.14
“No person or persons who upon learning there is adequate iced tea in a public eating establishment may turn it down, even in lieu of dietary restrictions or disease. If any said person or persons do turn down tea in favor of water or carbonated beverages they will be branded as yankee and escorted to the state lines” Verbatim.
