Boom-chaka-laka-laka

I worked my ASS off this past week.  It was by far my hardest week of workouts since high school (over 15 years for those who are counting — I’m trying not to).  I did 20 miles worth of sprint/walks.  I dominated the gym (but I will surpass that total this week, I promise).

It paid off — I weighed in at 202.6 this morning — less than 3 pounds from my contest goal of 200 and just over 7 pounds from my ultimate goal of 195.

I have learned a valuable lesson these last couple of weeks.  I was within 2 pounds of my goal a few months ago and totally slacked off and gained about 7 to 10 pounds back.  Not only was it hard to get back into the good eating, I have to double-time it in the gym now to make up for piggish behavior.  A little cheating goes a long way.

This week I vow to do at least 25 miles in the gym and 30 the last week of the contest.  As I said earlier, failure is not an option — anything short of my goal will result in shame to my family, and will cause my to walk into the ocean, never to be heard from again.

Email Steve (I'm even fatter than I look.)

The ocean wont have you so you have no choice but to reach the goal.

I thought about manning up and offer to match your 25 miles but there is no way my back and knee could take it.

It’s not quite as hardcore, but I’m good for 12 miles and 6 days of weights.

Yeah — you don’t want to hurt yourself again. That’s be devastating this late in the game. I felt a tight calf last night and went to the store to get a heating pad so I wouldn’t miss any days of running.

I lift three to 4 days a week also — I am trying to get as big as Tiger Woods now. ;)

You seem to be losing it pretty well, so you don;t need to do the 25. I am having to fight for every pound these days!
