Follow Brad’s Progress

The Pirate
Brad, “The Pirate”
Goal: 9% complete
Contestant: Brad
Nickname: The Pirate
Location: Springfield, Missouri
Starting Weight: 285
Goal Weight: 230
Odds of winning: Very Good

Why he could win
: The most competitive of all the contestants. With more pounds to lose, odds are in his favor to lose a greater percentage of bodyweight. A good cook, can whip up his own healthy meals in no time.

Why he could lose
: Needs consistent weight loss every week to hold his advantage over lighter competitors. Loves to cook his own gourmet, full-fat meals. Enjoys liquor regularly. An admittedly lazy bastard when he wants to be.

Weakness
: Butter- and cream-laden sauces. Hard liquor and beer.

I feel a little guilty about my success this week. I started out strong but cheated my way through the weekend. I didn’t handle the holiday temptation very well and when I wasn’t shoveling fried and cheese laden morsels in my mouth I was drowning myself in rum. It was one hell of a time but not good for the old waist line.

To make up for my indiscretions I am munching on a salad while the rest of the office is going whole hog with ham sandwiches and mini-cheesecakes. Just keeping my eye on the prize. I should be finished with holiday ridiculousness for a couple of weeks until the big day. Christmas is the eating holiday second only to Thanksgiving. All bets are off on the 25th my friends. I am going to get my fill.
I am making a butternut squash soup for dinner this evening. I will post the recipe and nutritional info on our eating page when it is all said and done. It should be pretty tasty. Also coming next weekend will be a low cal lasagna recipe If you can believe such a thing.

For the time being I will bask in the glow of my accomplishment and promise to do better (or at least try harder) this week.

[…] I only dropped 5 pounds down to a slim and trim 281. I’m still fat as all get out but I can now see the tips of my shoes. See the complete report on The Pirate page. […]

Umm…do you ever change your shorts? Looks like you might be sportin’ the same underwear there too, pal — time for a new pair, don’t you think?

  5. 5 The Pirate 6 January 2007 @ 3:43 pm

Those are my ultra-fat lounging shorts. I have two pairs, one in the wash and the other on my ass. Ironically, the wife just picked me up two new pairs yesterday so you should see a little variety (at least in color) going forward.

The boxers all look pretty much the same but you should just be happy I am wearing underwear at all…

you’re lagging behind…come on. You can do it!

  7. 7 The Pirate 11 January 2007 @ 2:31 pm

Yep, the start was rough, no arguing that. Thanks for the encouragement.

  8. 8 The General 17 January 2007 @ 3:38 pm

LMAO…that picture is phenomenal. I didn’t realized you’d posted it until I read your reference to it on Rob’s page. Goddamn, you must’ve been freezing. Was anyone around?

  9. 9 The Pirate 18 January 2007 @ 12:21 pm

Cold as a well diggers asshole. It is on highway 65 so cars were zipping by. I got a couple of honks.

  10. 10 The Captain 23 January 2007 @ 8:37 am

Don’t let the Heel catch you! He’s got a ways to go, but he’s sounding like he’s in the groove!

  11. 11 The Pirate 23 January 2007 @ 9:53 am

No kidding. The man is on fire! Thanks for the motivation. If we both reach our goals I will gladly lose to the angry Irish man. I am keeping my eye on 230 and chugging away.

This is a diet marathon, not a sprint.

  12. 12 The Captain 1 February 2007 @ 7:28 am

You sort of remind me of Lee Warner with the new pic. A white, fat Lee Warner.

  13. 13 The Pirate 2 February 2007 @ 2:30 pm

I can’t see as how fat and white can fit into a sentence with Lee Warner, plus I wasn’t a member of the ‘89 posse.

  14. 14 RBK 5 February 2007 @ 7:19 pm

    FAT BASTARD
