COME ON NOW
I’m getting close. Got in my 13 miles, got my 6 days of weights, got in several hundred calories worth of yard work. I think I drank too much water last night, feeling a little too hydrated for a weigh in day but still, 197.5! I’m gonna have a cheat breakfast this morning, after that it’s all goodness

GOOOOOAAAALLLLL!!!
GOOOOOOAAAALLLLL!!!!
GOOOOOOOAAAAALLLL!!!!
The Cap’n has landed — 199.4 this morning! An incredible week of running paid off (28 miles worth to be exact). I’d like to thank my producer, my mother and father, my lovely wife Stephanie and our unborn baby for the motivation and so on….
Now I just have to keep doing the hard stuff until I hit 195, then go into maintenance mode. I have NO plans to put all that weight back on, so it’ll take maintenance at the gym and the table from here on out. But at least after I hit that 195 these really long and hard workouts can be toned down a bit…
I look forward to crossing the finish line well under my contest goal next week. Come on boys — 1 more week. Shed as much as you can!

Really good week
I couldn’t weigh in until last night at the gym, but I’m glad I did. I’m down another 3 to 266. I worked well in the gym last week, but I ate next to nothing for a few days in a row and I’m sure I can hang the weigh in on that. I also changed up a little bit and weighed in on the dial scale we have here at the office this morning. The YMCA scale is very forgiving (it’s one of those old dr’s office scales that can be different depending on how/where you stand) but this one here is not. It’s dead on balls accurate and it weighed me the same this morning. I fell off the wagon for a while, but it feels good to be back in the swing!

Boom-chaka-laka-laka
I worked my ASS off this past week. It was by far my hardest week of workouts since high school (over 15 years for those who are counting — I’m trying not to). I did 20 miles worth of sprint/walks. I dominated the gym (but I will surpass that total this week, I promise).
It paid off — I weighed in at 202.6 this morning — less than 3 pounds from my contest goal of 200 and just over 7 pounds from my ultimate goal of 195.
I have learned a valuable lesson these last couple of weeks. I was within 2 pounds of my goal a few months ago and totally slacked off and gained about 7 to 10 pounds back. Not only was it hard to get back into the good eating, I have to double-time it in the gym now to make up for piggish behavior. A little cheating goes a long way.
This week I vow to do at least 25 miles in the gym and 30 the last week of the contest. As I said earlier, failure is not an option — anything short of my goal will result in shame to my family, and will cause my to walk into the ocean, never to be heard from again.

Striking distance
I finally got around to hitting the treadmill and weights this past week and it feels great. Diet is going well too. 199.5 this morning.

Forgot to post this, sorry: 195.5
Yes, that’s up 1.7-ish from last week. I have not officially thrown in the towel, but if you were a bettin’ man, bet on me not making it.

Reflection
It has been a long time since my last post and the frustration has been mounting. I have been stuck in the mid 260’s for a couple of months and can’t seem to get any momentum. 268 is my weight this morning. I have known for awhile that I would not make my goal in time to qualify for the reward but I look back now and realize I am 20 pounds lighter now than when I started and that gives me some perspective and a little motivation to push on.
I have slowly been slipping back into my old eating habits and that stops today (pizza my love, I will miss you). My goal of 235 stays the same but I am pushing the date out to October 1st. I apologize to the other guys about not pulling my weight (pardon the pun). I will also do a better job of posting to this website, because when I was losing the little weight I lost I was thinking about my diet constantly and sharing my thoughts. It is always easier with friends than alone.

Down a pound
There’s a long way to go, and a short time to get there. I’m 201 this week. That’s 6 pounds away from my goal. My back is still giving me trouble. Not as bad as before but it’s still not well enough to get on the treadmill.
